“As a company of Scientists Helping Scientists, we know we have a leadership role to play in protecting the environment and that means embedding sustainability into all our decision-making,” said Dr. Allen Eaves, President and CEO, STEMCELL. “This report provides important visibility into STEMCELL’s business practices, including what steps we have taken this past year to reduce our environmental impact and how we are supporting the communities in which we live and work.”

Highlights of the report include:

  • ISO 14001 recertification of STEMCELL’s Environmental Management System
  • Successful diversion of 39% of waste from landfills – a 14% increase from the previous year
  • More than 4,000 participants in numerous educational outreach initiatives working to increase diversity in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)

This past year, STEMCELL also joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. This includes a commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and upholding the Ten Principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
