Saudi-Arabië en de Internationale Telecommunicatie-unie kondigen MoU aan ter ondersteuning van AI voor inspanningen op het gebied van duurzame ontwikkeling

RIYADH, Saoedi-Arabië – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Saoedi-Arabië, vertegenwoordigd door de Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), en de International Telecommunication Union (ITU) hebben vandaag een memorandum van overeenstemming (MoU) aangekondigd om samen te werken aan initiatieven ter ondersteuning en meer inspanningen leveren om de voordelen van AI-technologieën en toepassingen voor duurzame ontwikkeling te optimaliseren.

In het kader van het partnerschap zal Saoedi-Arabië de ITU ondersteunen bij het ontwikkelen van projecten, activiteiten en initiatieven die, onder andere, gericht zijn op het faciliteren van grotere participatie van meerdere belanghebbenden, internationale samenwerking en kennisdeling om de voortgang in de richting van de duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelen (SDG’s) van de VN te versnellen. . Dit kan mogelijk het ontwikkelen van initiatieven omvatten zoals een “AI Readiness Landscape Framework” dat de reacties, vorderingen en best practices met betrekking tot AI-beleidskaders zou onderzoeken en benadrukken.

Saudi Arabia and International Telecommunication Union Announce MoU to Support AI for Sustainable Development Efforts

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) today announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on initiatives aimed at supporting and strengthening efforts to optimize the benefits of AI technologies and applications for sustainable development.

Under the partnership, Saudi Arabia will support ITU in developing projects, activities and initiatives that will, among other things, aim to facilitate greater multi-stakeholder participation, international cooperation, and knowledge sharing to accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This could potentially include developing initiatives such as an “AI Readiness Landscape Framework” that would explore and highlight country responses, progress and best practices related to AI policy frameworks.

The MoU was announced by HE Dr. Abdullah Bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, and HE Houlin Zhao, Secretary-General of ITU, in a virtual ceremony as part of the Global AI Summit 2020.

Saudi Arabia is supporting ITU in this space as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to become a world leader in AI innovation and in advancing knowledge and research into the beneficial use of AI.
