LulzBot kondigt samenwerking in 3D-bioprinting met FluidForm aan

LOVELAND, Colo.-(BUSINESS WIRE)- Aleph Objects, Inc., fabrikant van LulzBot 3D Printers, kondigde hun samenwerking aan met FluidForm Inc., een innovator in 3D bioprinting. FluidForm’s FRESH-druktechniek, ontwikkeld in de Regenerative Biomaterials and Therapeutics Group van de Carnegie Mellon University, maakt het mogelijk om 3D te printen met bio-inkten en andere zachte materialen. Aleph Objects en FluidForm zullen hun expertise bundelen om nieuwe oplossingen voor bioprinting aan te bieden, met het eerste aanbod dat deze zomer verschijnt.

3D bioprinting is already being used in labs to create tissue scaffolds and other complex biological structures. “We’re still at the very beginning of being able to build real functional tissues with 3D bioprinting,” said FluidForm CTO Adam Feinberg. “Collaborations like the one we are building with LulzBot will help make this a reality faster.”

3D biofabrication technology is revolutionizing applications across a wide spectrum of industries, including pharmaceuticals, regenerative medicine, drug screening, food and other animal products, cell-based biosensors, and testing of cosmetics and other health care goods. FluidForm’s novel platform of Freeform Reversible Embedding of Suspended Hydrogels (FRESH) 3D printing enables fabrication of soft, biological scaffolds for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
