Sterling& Wilson kijkt naar 200 MW Solar PV-projecten in Kazachstan

DUBAI, Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (BUSINESS WIRE) — Sterling en Wilson, het belangrijkste solar EPC bedrijf ter wereld, heeft zijn plannen aangekondigd om Kazachstan binnen te gaan. Het bedrijf richt zich met EPC op Solar PV projecten met een capaciteit van 200 MW in Kazachstan tot 2020. Het land zal naar verwachting in de maand oktober een bod ontvangen voor 180 MW aan Solar PV. Dit maakt deel uit van de reeks aanbestedingen die de Kazachse overheid in het begin van het jaar heeft aangekondigd.

Kazachstan streeft ernaar zijn afhankelijkheid van energieopwekking op basis van fossiele brandstoffen te verminderen ten opzichte van alternatieve energie. Het land werkt aan een verhoging van het aandeel van hernieuwbare energie in de elektriciteitsproductie tot 3% in 2020 en tot 10% in 2030.

Sterling& Wilson Eyes 200 MW Solar PV Projects in Kazakhstan

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Sterling and Wilson, World’s leading solar EPC company, has announced its plans to enter Kazakhstan. The company is targeting EPC for Solar PV projects of capacity 200 MW in Kazakhstan till 2020. The country is expected to receive bids for 180 MW of Solar PV in the month of October. This is part of the series of tenders announced by Kazakhstan government in the beginning of the year.

Kazakhstan is aiming at reducing its dependency on fossil fuel power generation to alternative energy. The country is working towards increasing the share of renewable energy in electric power generation to 3% by the year 2020 and to 10% by 2030.

Bikesh Ogra, CEO-Solar, Sterling and Wilson says, “Though Kazakhstan has huge oil reserves, growing energy consumption is one of the drivers behind the growth of renewable energy. International Energy Agency has predicted the demand for energy in the country to double up by the year 2035. The Central Asian country’s growing concern of climate change is also one of the factors for the switch to renewables. Sterling and Wilson is exploring all options to support the country in meeting its renewable energy targets.”

Sterling and Wilson has a subsidiary company in Kazakhstan with category I license. The local company would be responsible for execution of Solar PV projects.
