RTA opent registratie voor de Dubai World Challenge voor zelfrijdend transport

– De finalisten worden bekendgemaakt in oktober 2018, de winnaars in oktober 2019.

DUBAI – (BUSINESS WIRE) – De weg- en vervoersautoriteit (RTA) van Dubai opent vandaag, 1 mei 2018, de inschrijving voor de Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport via de website www.sdchallenge.com. H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, directeur-generaal en voorzitter van de raad van bestuur van de RTA, onthulde eerder het initiatief dat in samenwerking met de universiteit van Khalifa en de internationale organisatie NewCities wordt georganiseerd.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai opens today, May 1st, 2018, the registration for the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport through the website www.sdchallenge.com. HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, had previously unveiled the initiative in collaboration with Khalifa University and NewCities International Organisation.

Adel Shakeri, Director of Transportation Systems cum Head of the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport Committee, said, “Registration for the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport opens today, May 1st 2018. About USD $3 million has been allocated to mega companies, USD $1.5m for start-ups, and USD $600,000 for universities and academic institutions (USD $300,000 each for local universities, and international universities). The Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport has become a key pillar of RTA’s strategy and hence launching a host of such innovative initiatives can make driverless mobility a reality on the ground,” concluded Shakeri.
