Publicatie van CMMI® Institute: Guide to Scrum and CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI

CMMI Institute heeft daarvoor een nuttig boek uitgebracht: A Guide to Scrum en CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI.

CMMI® Institute Publishes A Guide to Scrum and CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI

PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® is being used increasingly around the world to build scalable, resilient, high performance organizations and empower those organizations to deliver on the promises of agile. A recent McKinsey study shows that incorporating agile above and across individual projects can be a formidable task. Organizations that attempt to scale agile need significant structural changes and support. CMMI helps organizations reap the benefits of agile and scale its adoption across teams, divisions, and the global enterprise. CMMI Institute has released A Guide to Scrum and CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI to help users adopt and implement CMMI to improve performance in agile organizations.

In 2015, CMMI Institute estimated that over 70% of CMMI appraised organizations reported using agile. Agile organizations struggling with issues of performance are increasingly turning to the CMMI for proven results. For example, Minacs IT Services experienced a 30% to 40% increase of attaining sprint commitments, a 30% increase in the number of user stories delivered in each sprint, and 40% increase in on-time delivery after applying CMMI to existing agile processes. By using CMMI to scale agile across the organization, Minacs also transformed its internal work culture from silo-heavy to unified and aligned to a single common vision. “The competitive strength that CMMI gives us positions us very strongly against our competition,” noted Mike Doobay, Global Leader of Minacs Marketing Solutions and Minacs IT Services.

The CMMI Institute developed A Guide to Scrum and CMMI: Improving Agile Performance with CMMI as a roadmap to successfully adopt and implement CMMI and agile together. The CMMI provides a framework or map of “what” a high-performance organization must do. Agile provides particular approaches that prescribe “how” to do it. As methods and techniques are adapted and evolve, the CMMI provides the foundation on which organizations can iterate or tailor their techniques in a way that is appropriate to the dynamics of their business environment. The discipline, organizational learning, and consistency provided by the adoption of CMMI supports organizations in making their agile implementation even stronger and more effective.

“It is meaningful to see CMMI increasingly being used in agile organizations,” said Kirk Botula, CEO of CMMI Institute. “Companies are always looking for ways to develop capability to ensure that their organizations remain on stable footing while being poised to pivot to meet new opportunities,” he continued. “The CMMI model guides users by providing the backbone to develop capability and improve performance across the agile enterprise.”
