Roku: Filipijns telecombedrijf PLDT neemt licentie voor nieuwe streamingdienst en -speler
AMSTERDAM–(BUSINESS WIRE)– (IBC) Roku, Inc. en PLDT hebben vandaag bekendgemaakt dat PLDT als vijfde operator deelneemt aan het programma Roku Powered™. PLDT is bovendien de eerste netwerkexploitant in Azië die het streamingplatform Roku® gebruikt zijn tv-diensten aan breedbandklanten. De operator lanceert de streamingdienst en aanverwante speler naar verwachting in het tweede kwartaal van 2017. The new PLDT streaming service and streaming player are expected to launch during Q2 2017 and combine the best local Philippines content from Cignal and iflix with content from global providers. “In the past, operators first had to build or lease dedicated infrastructure in order to deliver TV services to the home, but with streaming that is no longer the case.
