Newmont tweede jaar op rij leider mijnbouw in Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Newmont Mining Corporation is voor het tweede jaar op rij aangemerkt als duurzaamheidsleider in de mijnbouw in de Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World). Newmonts plek in de index markeerde ook het tiende achtereenvolgende jaar waarin het bedrijf is geselecteerd voor de DSJI. Dit jaar stonden op de DJSI World – een van de hoogst aangeschreven duurzaamheidsindices – 316 internationale bedrijven als leiders op gebied van duurzame economische, ecologische en maatschappelijke prestaties. Newmont was in 2007 het eerste goudmijnbedrijf dat de index bereikte. Sinds 2006 verscheen het bedrijf onafgebroken in de DJSI North America Index.

 

 

Newmont Ranked Mining Industry Leader by Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for Second Year in a Row

 

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)– For the second year in a row, Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE: NEM) was ranked by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) as the mining industry’s overall leader in sustainability. Newmont’s inclusion on the index also marked the 10 th consecutive year the company has been selected for the DJSI World. This year, the DJSI World – one of the most highly regarded sustainability indices – included 316 global companies identified as leaders in the areas of sustainable economic, environmental and social performance. Newmont was the first gold company named to the index in 2007, and has been included on the DJSI North America Index every year since 2006.

DJSI World tracks the performance of 2,500 leading companies worldwide, independently evaluating their long-term economic, environmental and social performance. The top 10 percent of performers are selected from among each industry group. DJSI evaluates companies based on a variety of criteria, including transparency, corporate governance, risk and crisis management, environmental management and performance, climate strategy, water risks, stakeholder engagement, local community development, labor practices, human rights and safety.
