“Many of our clients in Europe are looking for a dedicated testing partner for their apis and non-apis bee studies so we looked to grow in order to continue to be their best resource,” said Susan Shepherd, President, Smithers Viscient. “Aline is a tremendous professional who exemplifies our commitment to good science and we are thrilled to have her on our team.”

Fauser joins Smithers Viscient after spending two years as Study Director and Team Leader at Innovative Environmental Services (IES) Ltd. in Switzerland. While there she was responsible for performing and reporting GLP studies of plant protection products and their impact on beneficial arthropods, soil organisms and non-target plants. She received her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from the University of Bern in Switzerland.

In 2013, Fauser and three colleagues published the article: Influence of Combined Pesticide and Parasite Exposure on Bumblebee Colony Traits in the Laboratory in the Journal of Applied Ecology. She currently has two manuscripts regarding bumblebee testing that are pending publication.

This move will aid clients based in Europe that are tasked with meeting the current European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) guidance pushing them to complete these bee studies within the next few years.
