Fujitsu Delivers New Family of UHF RFID Tags for Linens, Fashion Apparel and Accessories for European Markets

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leader in innovative technology and front-end solutions has announced today that it is now shipping its new Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) RFID tags for industrial garments and flat linens as well as their new Fashion tag for formal wear, high fashion apparel, garments, and accessories. The new Fujitsu WT-A522L and WT-A522LA Fashion tags, which are about the size of a typical shirt collar stay, are virtually imperceptible when installed in the sheerest of garments. For industrial applications, Fujitsu is introducing the new, ultra-rugged, WT-A533 tag for industrial linen processes. Fujitsu will be showing the new family of washable RFID tags at Texcare International on June 11 thru 15 2016 at the Frankfurt am Main convention center in Hall 8 Level 0 Booth A65.

Unlike most garment RFID tags, this new WT-A522L Fashion tag is made from transparent materials and is virtually invisible when sewn into clothing or accessories. From fine silks and lace to sheer gowns, the new Fashion tag provides Fashion Designers and Retailers protection against counterfeiting and fraud. Fashion apparel and formal wear rental enterprises will also benefit by providing precise tracking of rental garments and accessories at the item level, without having to unbox and individually read a bar code. The new Fujitsu Fashion tag is designed for permanent installation into fashion apparel, suits, formal wear, and jeans. Measuring only 55mm x 10mm x 0.3 mm, the WT-A522L tag can easily be sewn into hems, seams, or under manufacturers’ labels and is home wash, dry-clean, and ironing safe. Fujitsu will also offer the WT-A522LA with a strong adhesive for attachment to shoes, handbags, and accessories.

For industrial garment and linen applications, Fujitsu is announcing the new WT-A533 Linen tag for heavy-duty industrial laundry applications. The new Linen tag has an advanced mechanical design which gives it extra strength and reliability in heavy-duty industrial garment and flat linen applications. Customers will have the ability to perform bulk reading of hundreds, even thousands, of articles simultaneously in seconds with very high reliability and reading density. Bulk reading enables streamlined automated processes and significant reductions in labor costs compared to HF systems which require single or small quantity processing. The WT-A533 tag is the same size and has the same soft exterior as its predecessor, the WT-A522, but has increased reading range and rugged durability.

“UHF RFID technology will significantly reduce the labor cost compared to single garment processing at tuxedo and high fashion rental companies. Also, fraud and counterfeiting in high fashion apparel is on the rise. Including an ‘invisible’ RFID tag in high-value garments and accessories will provide positive confirmation of an item’s authenticity and also help reduce incidents of fraud”, said Randy Fox, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. “The WT-A533 Linen tag and the WT-A522L Fashion tags provide any garment manufacturer, rental or laundry operation one-stop shopping for all of their RFID needs”.
