2016 D.I.C.E. Europe Announces First Group of Speakers

Barcelona Conference Will Focus on “World Builders” Theme

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences is pleased to announce the 4th Annual D.I.C.E. Europe event, which will once again take place at the beautiful seaside resort W Barcelona in southern Spain. This year’s event will be taking place September 11-13, 2016, where leading European video game executives can take advantage of the premier networking opportunities, listen to key speakers, and participate in focused roundtables to tackle some of the industry’s biggest ideas and trends.

This year’s D.I.C.E. Summit theme kicking off in Barcelona and extending to the D.I.C.E. Summit, Las Vegas will explore World Builders. Gamemakers and creators, communities and players – together discover, build, and explore new worlds. They chase emergent technologies and experiences that will foster growth and define our future. D.I.C.E. will examine various aspects that drive world building – from building prosperous creative communities that welcome and nurture player communities to the many ways we chase new technologies that offer a glimpse of tomorrow, today.

D.I.C.E. speakers are often challenged to mix the philosophical and the practical in ways that are entertaining, and touch on creative and business concepts that define rapidly evolving interactive entertainment, but also transcend it. The AIAS is pleased to announce its first round of speakers:

  • Clive Downie, chief marketing officer at Unity. Downie is responsible for global strategies and tactics in customer marketing, product marketing, and ecommerce.
  • James Mitchell, chief strategy officer and senior executive vice president at Tencent. Mitchell is responsible for Tencent’s strategic planning and implementation; investor relationships; and mergers, acquisitions, and investments activity.
  • Alex Nichiporchik, CEO of tinyBuild and acting producer on games like Punch Club and Party Hard. Nichiporchik’s talk, “Finding indie success by embracing livestreaming,” will share how small studios can find success by embracing livestreaming and experimenting with new games and technologies.
  • Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of CCP Games. Petursson will discuss “Why are we doing this, really? The human benefit of computer games,” with insight into why he thinks that making games isn’t just about creating the next level of human interaction, it’s about reaching the next level of the human condition.

“In the past couple years, D.I.C.E. Europe has truly evolved into its own unique brand of conference experience – an unparalleled setting with the right number of attendees, intelligent conversations, and relaxed networking,” said Martin Rae, president, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. “We are excited to see how speakers and attendees rally around the theme World Builders and all it encompasses.”

The D.I.C.E. Europe conference will also reprise its popular roundtable sessions, where executives have a chance to debate, analyze, and generate focused solutions amongst their brightest peers in a private, intimate setting. Attendees will find that they come out of these sessions with ideas and feedback that they are able to implement in their own companies and practices.

D.I.C.E. is famous for its key networking opportunities, where attendees can discuss the day’s most exciting talks and discussions. Included in the price of the conference pass to all attendees is a paella cooking competition at a Catalan farmhouse, cocktail hours, and evening parties for a chance to unwind and connect with attendees. In true executive retreat fashion, the organizers encourage all attendees to invite their significant others, who are welcome to join in on the networking events and parties.

Early bird rates end June 30, 2016. Reserve your tickets now at www.diceeurope.org.
