Bitstamp eerste bitcoin-beurs met nationale licentie; lanceert bitcoin-euro-handel

LUXEMBURG–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Bitstamp heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat het van Luxemburg een vergunning heeft gekregen voor een volledig gereguleerde betalingsinstelling.  De licentie is ondertekend door de Luxemburgse minister van financiën Pierre Gramegna. Bitstamp wordt de eerste officiële FX-beurs voor bitcoins in Europa en zal vanaf 1 juli, wanneer het nieuwe hoofdkantoor in Luxemburg opent, volledig operationeel zijn.

De goedkeuring is het resultaat van een rigoureus, twee jaar durend aanvraagproces bij de Luxemburgse financiële toezichthouder, de Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). De procedure bestond onder meer uit veiligheidsbeoordelingen en een audit door Ernst & Young. De vergunning voor Bitstamp is geldig in de 28 lidstaten van de Europese Unie, waardoor alle Europese klanten toegang hebben tot een robuust, veilig platform voor handel in bitcoins.

 

Bitstamp to Become the First Nationally Licensed Bitcoin Exchange; Launches BTC/EUR Trading

LUXEMBOURG–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Today, Bitstamp, one of the longest-standing bitcoin exchanges and the leading Europe-based bitcoin exchange, announced that Luxembourg has granted the company a license as a fully regulated Payment Institution. The license has been signed by Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna. Bitstamp will become the first fully licensed bitcoin exchange in Europe, going into effect on July 1st, when their new headquarters in Luxembourg will be fully operational.The news is the result of a rigorous application process with the Luxembourg financial regulator, the Luxembourg Financial Industry Supervisory Commission (known as CSSF) spanning nearly two years, which included security reviews in addition to an audit by Ernst & Young. Bitstamp’s license is passportable into the 28 EU member states providing all European customers with a robust, secure platform for bitcoin trading.

Bitstamp has simultaneously launched BTC/EUR trading to better serve the European markets, and is offering free trading in BTC/EUR for both new and existing customers for 30 days.
