Westinghouse verlengt alliantie met FirstEnergy

PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Westinghouse Electric Company hernieuwt zijn langetermijnalliantie met FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company. De overeenkomst behelst een toezegging over de levering van diensten tijdens de stillegging van een door Westinghouse ontworpen drukwaterreactor van de kerncentrale Beaver Valley in Shippingport, in de Amerikaanse staat Pennsylvania.

De gunning heeft betrekking op een periode van vijf jaar, te beginnen in 2016, en bevat een optie voor hernieuwing. De overeenkomst voorziet in nieuwe aanlevering van brandstof, diensten voor de reactorkoelpomp en stoomgenerator. Het akkoord bouwt voort op de lange geschiedenis van samenwerkingen tussen Westinghouse en FirstEnergy op gebied van technologische verbeteringen. Als gevolg van deze nieuwe overeenkomst introduceert Westinghouse zijn  Zephyr ® Advanced Acquisition System voor stoomgeneratorinspecties in Beaver Valley.

Westinghouse Extends FirstEnergy Alliance

PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Westinghouse Electric Company renewed a long-term alliance agreement with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company. The alliance agreement includes a commitment to provide outage services for the Westinghouse-designed pressurized water reactors at Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station in Shippingport, Pa.

The award covers a five-year period beginning in 2016 and includes a renewal option. The agreement provides for refueling, reactor coolant pump and steam generator services and builds on the long history Westinghouse and FirstEnergy have of partnering on technology improvements. Through this agreement Westinghouse will introduce to Beaver Valley its Zephyr ® Advanced Acquisition System for steam generator inspections.

The Shippingport, Pa., location that now houses the Beaver Valley Station formerly was home to the world’s first commercial pressurized water reactor, supplied by Westinghouse in 1957.
