Card Protection Plate van TMD Security beschermt geldautomaten tegen deep-insert skimmers en shimmers

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Zwitserland & PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)– TMD Security, internationaal markt leider in antiskimtechnologie voor geldautomaten en betaalautomaten, heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat zijn nieuwe Card Protection Plate (CPP) bescherming biedt tegen nieuwe skim- en shimapparaten in een geldautomaat of betaalautomaat.

Betaalautomaten in benzinestations zijn al langer doelwit van ‘intern skimmen’ en criminelen verleggen hun aandacht nu naar geldautomaten, waarbij ze gebruikmaken van dezelfde skimmiddelen. Daarnaast is melding gemaakt van het zogeheten shimmen van geldautomaten. Shimmers worden in de kaartlezer van een geldautomaat geplaatst, maar gebruiken een andere techniek. Ze kopiëren data van de magnetische strip niet fysiek, maar onderscheppen communicatie tussen de chip en de kaartlezer.

De CPP voorkomt het plaatsen van skim- of shimapparaten in de kaartlezer. Tegelijkertijd kan de betaalkaart van de consument bij een transactie nog altijd vrijelijk in en uit de automaat getransporteerd worden. Het is voor criminelen niet mogelijk de CPP te verwijderen of te verplaatsen.

Deze bekendmaking is officieel geldend in de originele brontaal. Vertalingen zijn slechts als leeshulp bedoeld en moeten worden vergeleken met de tekst in de brontaal, welke als enige rechtsgeldig is.

New anti-skimming solution that protects 13, 000 Self-Service Payment Terminals now available for ATMs

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland & PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)– TMD Security, the global leader in anti-skimming for ATMs and SSTs, announced today that its new, patented Card Protection Plate (CPP) protects against new types of skimming and shimming devices that are placed deep inside the ATM or SST card reader.

Self-service payment terminals in gasoline stations have been under attack from ‘internal’ skimming and criminals are now shifting their attention to ATMs, using the same kind of skimming devices. Successful incidents of ATM shimming have also been reported. ATM shimmers are positioned inside the card reader but use a different technique. They do not physically copy, or skim, the data on the magnetic stripe but intercept the communications between the chip and the card reader.

The Card Protection Plate prevents the insertion of skimming and shimming devices inside the card reader while the consumer’s card can still freely move in and out during the transaction and the CPP cannot be removed or displaced by criminals.
