UNESCO en Panasonic lanceren onderwijsprogramma voor volgende generatie in Myanmar
YANGON, Myanmar / OSAKA, Japan –(BUSINESS WIRE)– UNESCO en Panasonic Corporation hebben een overeenkomst getekend voor een project in Myanmar in november 2015 om onderwijs gericht op duurzame ontwikkeling te promoten. Het project richt zich op de volgende generatie jonge mensen van de oude stad Bagan in Myanmar, dat momenteel een kandidaat is op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. De ondertekening betekent de start van een aantal gezamenlijke projecten.
Panasonic doneert onder meer 500 zonneboilers aan ongeveer 40 scholen in de nabijheid van Bagan. De plaatselijke bevolking heeft nu vaak geen elektriciteit. Jongeren hebben daardoor vaak een onderwijsachterstand omdat ze door het beperkte aantal uren daglicht alleen overdag kunnen studeren. Ook zijn de klaslokalen slecht verlicht.
