TÄBY, Zweden–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Westinghouse Electric Company is samen met zijn dochteronderneming WesDyne Sweden AB door OKG AB geselecteerd voor de ontwikkeling van technieken en instrumenten voor de inspectie van het omhulsel van een reactorkern. De te inspectiemiddelen zijn bedoeld voor reactor 3 van de kerncentrale van OKG AB in de Zweedse stad Oskarshamn.
Het contract behelst de ontwikkeling en de kwalificatie van ultrasonore technieken en wervelstroomsensoren voor 70 millimeter dikke Inconoel 182-lasnaden en twee nieuwe manipulators voor de inspectie van een diepte van circa 35 meter in vijf verschillende lassegmenten. Een van de manipulators gaat de te inspecteren ruimte binnen door een klein rooster in de reactor, die slechts 300 bij 300 millimeter meet.
Westinghouse Innovates New Inspection Technique for Sweden’s Oskarshamn Unit 3 Nuclear Power Plant
TÄBY, Sweden–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Westinghouse Electric Company with subsidiary WesDyne Sweden AB has been selected by OKG AB to develop and qualify techniques and equipment to inspect the core shroud support at OKG AB’s Oskarshamn unit 3 Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Sweden.
The contract scope includes developing and qualifying ultrasonic and eddy current techniques for 70 millimeter thick Inconel 182 welds, as well as two new manipulators to inspect approximately 35 meters in five different weld segments. One of the manipulators will enter the inspection area through the restricted core grid openings inside the reactor that measure only about 300-by-300 millimeters.

The work will be performed primarily at WesDyne Sweden AB, a nondestructive inspection branch of Westinghouse located in Täby, Sweden.
