GSMA benoemt John Giusti tot hoofd regelgeving

LONDEN–(BUSINESS WIRE)– De GSMA heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat het John Giusti heeft benoemd tot hoofd regelgeving. De benoeming treedt per 1 november 2015 in werking. Giusti, wiens werk onder de verantwoordelijkheid van de algemeen directeur van de GSMA valt, is uit hoofde van zijn nieuwe functie verantwoordelijk voor belangenbehartiging van de sector bij beleidsmakers, zoals overheden, regelgevende instanties, internationale instelling en ontwikkelingsorganisaties. Giusti is de opvolger van Tom Phillips, die speciaal adviseur van de GSMA wordt. Hij helpt de organisatie bij het onderhouden van relaties met instituties als de Verenigde Naties, de Wereldbank en het World Economic Forum.

 

GSMA Appoints John Giusti Chief Regulatory Officer

LONDON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The GSMA today announced that it has appointed John Giusti as Chief Regulatory Officer effective November 1, 2015. Reporting to the GSMA Director General, Giusti will be responsible for leading the organisation’s public policy and industry advocacy agenda with governments, regulators, international institutions and development organisations. He succeeds Tom Phillips, who has stepped down as Chief Regulatory Officer but will continue to serve as a special advisor to the GSMA, supporting the GSMA’s relationships with key institutions such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the World Economic Forum.

Prior to joining the GSMA, Giusti spent 17 years at the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), working in a variety of capacities. Most recently, he served as chief of staff and senior policy advisor to Commissioner Michael Copps, where he provided legal, strategic and policy support to the Commissioner on all major agency actions, including the implementation of the National Broadband Plan. He also previously ran the FCC’s International Bureau, where he managed the agency’s relationships with its foreign counterparts and served as the its chief negotiator at meetings of the International Telecommunication Union, the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission and other multilateral organisations.

Giusti was educated in the United States, earning a Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from the University of Florida. He has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 1994.
