Blue Danube Systems to Outline New Approach to Increasing Wireless Capacities

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Blue Danube Systems, a provider of mobile wireless access solutions that significantly and cost-effectively increase network capacity and enhance quality of service, today announced that it will present an approach to increasing LTE capacities called High Definition Active Antenna Systems™ (HDAAS™), at the International Wireless Industry Consortium workshop, “Radio Access Networks – Active Antenna Evolution,” on September 17 in Warsaw, Poland. This presentation follows the recent close of Blue Danube’s $16 million Series B funding round, which included a strategic investment by AT&T to accelerate product development in preparation for early 2016 field trials.

Blue Danube Systems has developed a new approach to radio access technology that helps carriers solve the problem of spectrum starvation. HDAAS can increase the average LTE spectrum efficiency of a typical base station by up to 10 times. It can be deployed as a low-friction upgrade to existing 4G LTE infrastructure and is compatible with existing mobile devices. HDAAS uses a large number of closely packed antenna elements (e.g. ≥ 64) to direct spectrum intelligently where needed in the cell based on demand. The antenna ensemble generates radiation patterns that can be shaped to cover hot spots or can be moved rapidly to adapt to changing user traffic patterns.

Blue Danube Systems Chief Technology Officer Dr. Mihai Banu will introduce the HDAAS concept in Warsaw with the presentation, “ Boosting the Capacity of Mobile Wireless Networks with High Definition Active Antenna Arrays”.

Wireless carriers and original equipment manufacturers interested in more information about HDAAS can contact Blue Danube Systems at info@bluedanube.com or 650.316.5010.
