LUXEMBURG & PARIJS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– SES S.A. en O3b, voor 45 procent in bezit van SES, bieden klanten een essentieel voordeel dankzij de combinatie van hun twee satellieten, die respectievelijk in een geostationaire baan en een middelhoge omloopbaan zijn geplaatst. Dat is de conclusie van het SES’ witboek ‘GEO-MEO. Proven. Efficient. Scalable.’ De satellietexploitant publiceerde dit witboek tijdens de opening van de World Satellite Business Week, die deze week plaatsheeft in Parijs.

SES bezit en exploiteert 52 satellieten in een geostationaire baan op 36 duizend kilometer van het aardoppervlak. De vloot is met zijn brede straal en innovatieve technologie voor grote doorvoer ideale infrastructuur voor hoogwaardige, lineaire uitzendingen via breedband met groot bereik. O3b exploiteert een dozijn kunstmanen in de middelhoge omloopbaan, op achtduizend kilometer van de aarde. Deze satellieten maken zeer snelle data- en breedbandverbindingen met lage latency mogelijk.

SES owns and operates 52 satellites in GEO at 36,000 kilometres distance from the Earth. With their wide beams and combined with innovative High Throughput technology, this fleet is the ideal and proven infrastructure to cover large geographies efficiently with high-quality linear broadcast and with broadband and data solutions. O3b operates a dozen satellites in the lower MEO, at 8,000 kilometres distance from where high speed data and broadband connections are possible with a low latency and, per consequence, at fibre-like speed.
