Axiogenesis tekent sublicentieovereenkomst met GE Healthcare over patent cellulaire analyse

Axiogenesis AG, een toonaangevende leverancier van weefselspecifieke celtypes die zijn afgeleid van geïnduceerde pluripotente stamcellen (iPSCs) en aanbieder van preklinische analyses voor medicijnontwikkeling en ziektemodellen, heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat het een sublicentieovereenkomst heeft gesloten met GE Healtcare (GEHC). Krachtens de overeenkomst verleent GEHC Axiogenesis een sublicentie voor intellectueel eigendom dat is vereist voor gebruik van menselijke iPSCs. Dit stelt Axiogenesis in staat cellulaire analyses en modellen die zijn afgeleid van stamcellen te ontwikkelen. Deze worden gebruikt bij de zoektocht naar nieuwe medicijnen en tests op toxiciteit. Dankzij de overeenkomst biedt Axiogenesis de markt meer vrijheid in het werken met de gepatenteerde iPSC-afgeleide cellen en weefsels.

Axiogenesis Signs Sublicensing Agreement for Cellular Assay Patents with GE Healthcare.

COLOGNE, Germany–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Axiogenesis AG, a leading supplier of tissue-specific human cell types derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and provider of pre-clinical drug development assays and disease models, announced today that it has signed an sublicense agreement with GE Healthcare (GEHC). Under the agreement, GEHC will sublicense intellectual property to use human iPSCs, enabling Axiogenesis to develop cellular assays and models derived from stem cells for use in drug discovery and toxicity screening for its customers. This agreement strengthens Axiogenesis’ ability to offer the market freedom-to-operate with Axiogenesis’ proprietary iPSC-derived cells and tissues.

Axiogenesis’ key capability is the provision of highly pure, tissue-specific human cells in unlimited volumes and at costs compatible with screening applications. This now makes it cost-effective during early drug development to use human cells not only in secondary screening, but also in primary high-throughput screens. This paradigm shift allows for early, more accurate identification of safe and effective therapies.

Axiogenesis commercial products include cardiac and neuronal subtypes, as well as the corresponding iPSC-derived connective tissues (e.g. cardiac fibroblasts and astrocytes) for highly physiological in vitro model systems.

Pure human iPSC derived cardiomyocytes, (Cor.4U®), are a defined mixture of atrial, ventricular and pacemaker cells. A ventricular cardiomyocyte subpopulation product, (CorV.4U™), was recently launched. Cardiomyocytes bearing disease-associated genetic mutations, using technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, as well as integrated detection sensor technologies, are in development.

The neuronal portfolio currently includes Peripheral (Peri.4U™) and Dopaminergic Dopa.4U™) neurons. A CNS population of neuronal subtypes modeling the midbrain and Astrocytes will also be launched in Q2 of 2015.

A unique focus of Axiogenesis is in development of phenotypic assays with iPSC-derived cells as disease models. In 2013 Axiogenesis was awarded patents in Japan, Europe and the USA for the use of iPSC derived cardiomyocytes in cardiac disease models such as cardiac hypertrophy.
