De AVC Patent Portfolio-licentie stelt gebruikers van AVC in staat met één licentie toestemming voor het gebruik van patenten van meerdere patenthouders te krijgen, zonder dat daarvoor aparte onderhandelingen over specifieke licenties nodig zijn. MPEG LA stelt zich tot doel zo veel mogelijk intellectueel eigendom met betrekking tot AVC beschikbaar te stellen ten gunste van de licentiehouders. Iedere partij die een essentieel patent voor de AVC-standaard denkt te hebben en zou willen deelnemen aan de AVC Patent Portfolio License is welkom om haar patenten te laten beoordelen door experts van MPEG LA. Patenten worden opgenomen in de licentie als het deze als essentieel worden beoordeeld. MPEG LA Expands AVC License Coverage

The AVC Patent Portfolio License is offered for the convenience of AVC users enabling them to obtain coverage under essential patents owned by multiple patent holders in a single license as an alternative to negotiating separate licenses. MPEG LA’s objective is to provide worldwide access to as much AVC essential intellectual property as possible for the benefit of licensees. Any party that believes it has a patent which is essential to the AVC standard and would like to participate in the AVC Patent Portfolio License is welcome to submit its patent(s) for an evaluation of essentiality by MPEG LA’s patent experts and inclusion in the License if determined to be essential.
