Tenneco Provides Innovative Lightweight Suspension Parts on the New Compact Jaguar XE Sports Sedan

BRUSSELS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TEN) announced today that Jaguar Land Rover has chosen Tenneco’s high-performance suspension technology for its all-new XE sports sedan.

The vehicle’s lightweight, high-pressure gas monotube shock absorbers offer excellent vehicle stability and handling as a result of innovative valve technology. The special design provides more mounting options, higher potential damping levels and a better response compared with twin tube shocks.

According to Jaguar, the suspension on the new XE is 20 percent stiffer than previous X-models, giving engineers more freedom to create the ideal ride and handling balance.

“We are proud to integrate our innovative monotube valve technology as a suspension feature on the all-new Jaguar XE with its state-of-the-art Advanced Aluminum Architecture,” said Sandro Paparelli, vice president and general manager, Europe Ride Performance. “Like Jaguar, we are committed to developing lightweight solutions that enhance vehicle dynamics and ride quality while helping to reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.”

About Passive Suspension

Lightweight monotube shock absorbers with Tenneco’s innovative valve technology offer improved tunability, a more direct response and damping consistency and durability. Low damping forces can be independently tuned in rebound and compression modes. The system also independently adjusts damping blow-off levels and damping progression rates in mid- to high-speed ranges. The valve design differs from standard monotube valve designs where damping force level and progression rate are mutually dependent. Tenneco uses high precision process technology including single piece force adjustment and laser welding when manufacturing monotube shocks. Visit www.tenneco.com for more information.
