He will report directly to Cathy Baron Tamraz, Business Wire’s chairwoman and CEO.

DeLeo’s appointment comes at a time of exciting change and opportunity at Business Wire, which has grown to 32 offices throughout North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to expanding its geographic footprint, Business Wire is aggressively focusing on enterprising new initiatives, including the recent launch of its widely acclaimed “BizWireTV” web video series.

In his new role, DeLeo will work closely with Business Wire’s editorial, legal, operations, sales and tech teams to ensure that all departments are working in unison to seamlessly execute the client engagement process, delivering a user experience that exceeds expectations.

DeLeo joined Business Wire in 1995 and has served in numerous leadership positions within the company. Most recently, he was senior vice president, business operations. DeLeo is a graduate of Siena College in New York, and is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute [NIRI] and The Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Andy K and Friends Memorial Foundation.

“Rich is ready to take on this very important job,” said Tamraz in making today’s announcement. “He has worked closely with Phyllis for many years, and he understands the complexities and sensitivities of Business Wire’s unique role in terms of regulatory disclosure and the global information infrastructure. Rich brings both perspective and pragmatism to his new role, and he has earned the trust and respect of his colleagues worldwide.

“We also want to acknowledge Phyllis’ enormous contribution to Business Wire’s success,” added Tamraz. “Phyllis was instrumental in formulating Business Wire’s news policies and standards and she vigilantly protected Business Wire’s editorial integrity on a daily basis. She will be missed on both a personal and professional level.”
