Dubai Internet City maakt finalisten Smart City App Hack bekend

DUBAI, Verenigde Arabische Emiraten–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Dubai Internet City (DIC), de officiële partner van de Smart City App Hack, heeft de tien finalisten van zijn competitie bekendgemaakt: Boxit.com, Ithal, Einvite, Carpool Arabia, World Spotlight, D2D Auto Services, LupUp, GPSShield, MyGreenRank en App3ad. De wedstrijd maakt deel uit van de rol die DIC als strategische partner van Smart Dubai vervult. DIC ondersteunt de ontwikkeling van start-ups en ontwikkelaars van apps in de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en brengt de tech-gemeenschap bijeen ter bevordering van innovatie en creativiteit.

In de afgelopen vijf jaar hadden ontwikkelaars en ondernemers de kans mee te bouwen aan een daadwerkelijk intelligent stad. Zij creëerden en ontwikkelden daartoe apps onder de hoede van een internationaal team van experts. Deelnemers werd gevraagd voor 3 oktober ideeën voor apps in te dienen rond vijf thema’s: stedelijke mobiliteit, energie en uitstoot, cultuur en toerisme, detailhandel en winkelen en samenwerking in de stad.

The competition is part of DIC’s role as a Strategic Partner for Smart Dubai, to support the development of UAE start-ups and app developers and bring together the tech community and foster innovation and creativity.

Over the past five months, developers and entrepreneurs have had the chance to be involved in the building of a truly Smart City and have created and developed apps, mentored by a global team of tech experts. Applicants were invited to submit app ideas based around five Smart themes; Urban Mobility, Energy and Emissions, Culture and Tourism, Retail and Shopping and Collaborative City, ahead of selection on 3 October.

The winning team will be awarded a trip to Barcelona to pitch their app at the Smart City Expo in November, as well as in5 membership, and second and third place will be awarded four months of membership at in5, and the chance to be selected as one of the finalists to pitch their apps in Barcelona. The winner of the Smart City Expo will be invited to pitch at the MasterCard Masters of Code in Silicon Valley.
