Autobandenmarkt.nl leeft mobiliteit

Gemiddeld leggen Britse automobilisten zo’n zestienduizend kilometer per jaar af. Poolse automobilisten leggen gemiddeld slechts 1200 per jaar af.

Mytyres.co.uk: Living and Loving Mobility

HANOVER, Germany–(BUSINESS WIRE)– For most people, mobility is the main requirement for actively taking part in public life. All you need is some wheels and you can get to work or school, take part in leisure activities, arrive at your holiday destination or visit family and friends. Most use passenger cars or other motorised vehicles rather frequently at that. But very few do enough to look into the most significant safety factors that apply to their vehicle.

On average, British drivers cover around 10,000 miles (approx. 16,000 kilometres) behind the steering wheel (including all types of motorised vehicles). In comparison, German motorists clock up more than 14,000 kilometres in their cars per year and motorbike and scooter users cover around 2,400 kilometres. Car drivers in France cover slightly less distance at 13,000 kilometres per year and are therefore at about the same level as the Italians who clock up an average of more than 13,000 kilometres in a year. Polish drivers, in turn, do only around 1,200 kilometres annually.*

Bikers are also out and about quite a lot and eat up the kilometres like nobody’s business. A survey of motorbike users in eight European countries by moto-tyres.co.uk showed that those questioned collectively covered 17.3 million kilometres on their bikes, enough to drive around the world 432 times.**

Trips on holiday contribute most to pushing up the miles. Reason enough to take a close look at your vehicle; always check before and after holidays. Are the lights and indicators working properly? How are the oil level and the condition of the brakes? Of course, the tyres in particular need a good inspection. Was your fully-laden car or motorbike struggling with all the holiday gear? Checking tyres isn’t only useful for improving safety, but also helps preserve the value of your vehicle.

Tyre safety factors: Tread depth, fill pressure and general condition

First of all, you should check the tread depth of your tyres: the Europe-wide legal requirement is a minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimetres. However, safety experts recommend changing summer tyresonce they reach a three-millimetre tread depth or four millimetres for winter tyres to ensure optimal grip, stability and security. Use a 20-p coin (or similar) or a handy measuring ruler to check the tread depth of your tyres yourself.

The pressure of the tyres is equally important for drivability. Thierry Delesalle from mytyres.co.uk: “Handling can be negatively affected by incorrect tyre pressure. Wrongly inflated tyres can also lead to increased fuel consumption, more wear and tear and increased costs that could have been avoided.” Safety factor number 3 for car tyres is their general condition: is the rubber still intact or is it becoming porous? Are there any visible small cracks and cuts? It is recommended to replace the tyres if this is the case since even minor damage can lead to sudden blow-outs, which can have fatal consequences. Are you due for new tyres? You can quickly and easily order new ones from the Internet such as from mytyres.co.uk. Almost alltyre brands and sizes are available in stock. The tyres will be delivered to the buyer’s chosen address, or to a partner fitting service in the vicinity.
